The "V" sure take the eye to the beauty.

Daniel Dempster replied:

This is a beautiful location and I have done many images from this spot over the years. Unfortunately, I was prevented from shooting the best sunrise I ever saw here. I was teaching a workshop along with another guy and I ended up doing everything to get the shot for a woman from Texas except trip the shutter. :) That was back in the film days so we were using split nd filters to balance sky and foreground. So I composed the image, figured out the exposure a number of times and made sure everything was set correctly so she could push the plunger on her cable release. We reviewed the participants images at the end and that image was probably the best photo taken by the group. I was disappointed but that sometimes happens.

About Daniel Dempster

Daniel Dempster

For more than thirty years Daniel Dempster has roamed the backroads and wild places of America seeking out and capturing the beauty of this wonderful land. Whether he is photographing the powerful thoroughbreds of Kentucky as they thunder down the stretch at Churchill Downs or roaming a stark and rugged Maine coastline searching for the perfect combination of composition and light, he is at home with a camera in his hand. What started as a passionate hobby in 1980 soon blossomed into a full-time career. In 1988 Daniel had four images featured in the Kentucky Derby Museum. Work with the horse racing industry soon followed and in 1990 he was asked to be official photographer for the Kentucky Derby Festival. He held that position...
