For more than thirty years Daniel Dempster has roamed the backroads and wild places of America seeking out and capturing the beauty of this wonderful land. Whether he is photographing the powerful thoroughbreds of Kentucky as they thunder down the stretch at Churchill Downs or roaming a stark and rugged Maine coastline searching for the perfect combination of composition and light, he is at home with a camera in his hand. What started as a passionate hobby in 1980 soon blossomed into a full-time career. In 1988 Daniel had four images featured in the Kentucky Derby Museum. Work with the horse racing industry soon followed and in 1990 he was asked to be official photographer for the Kentucky Derby Festival. He held that position...

Gail Sault
Awful. Would have loved this picture without the dead birds.
Daniel Dempster replied:
I'm sorry you don't like the image but dead birds are a part of bird hunting. In todays world people are disconnected from where their food comes from. We go to the grocery and pick up a cellophane wrapped package with no thought to the process that got it into the store. Hunting brings a person a bit closer to what is involved in sustaining our own life. Hunters are also involved in expanding the populations of many if not most of the animals they hunt. The money they pay in taxes on hunting equipment, license fees,,, etc. help to establish better habitat for the animals. Many hunters are also members of organizations such as quail Unlimited and Quail Forever that work and provide funding for better habitat and research.
Daniel Dempster replied:
I tried to look at your artwork but FAA tells me there is no Gail Sault. I clicked on your name above and it took me to a collector named Gab Sey from Bent, Oregon.
