Sailboat Motoring Past the Holland Harbor Lighthouse on Lake Michigan near Holland, Michigan
For more than thirty years Daniel Dempster has roamed the backroads and wild places of America seeking out and capturing the beauty of this wonderful land. What started as a passionate hobby in 1980 soon blossomed into a full-time career. In 1988 Daniel had four images featured in the Kentucky Derby Museum. The white sail is so eye-catching along with the deep blues and the brilliant red of the lighthouse. Very nicely presented Daniel! Celebrate life, Debra and Dave
Daniel Dempster replied:
Thank you Debra and Dave. I shot this quite a few years ago. I got a interesting call from a guy not too long after this image was used in a calendar. He said it was his boat and the woman sitting in back was his mom who was in her 70's. He said that they had been teasing by telling her that it took her 70 years but she finally became a calendar girl. He asked that I make a large print for him which I did. I hope his mom is still around and enjoying her calendar pic.
