The wood duck is very high strung and elusive - making them a challenging subject . GREAT accompishment and detail here ! Love the irridescense.
Daniel Dempster replied:
Thank You Larry. I like shooting ducks on sunny days when the light is a bit low. It gives you fantastic reflections and allows you to capture the iridescence. If the angle isn't just right the green will look black.

You are a master with the camera! Beautiful shot!
Daniel Dempster replied:
Thank you. There is a pond near my home that normally has quite a few wood ducks. This one allowed me to get very close which is unusual.

Beautiful. We traveled all over LA one year looking for him. Every time I saw one just as soon as they saw me, they just swam behind a tree. I finally got my first good look at the Houston Zoo! LOL This is really wonderful. The water drop on the back is really nice too. Ro

Thank you. There is a small lake near where I live where I can normally find them although they weren't there last winter. I hope they come back this year.
Daniel Dempster replied:
I checked the pond a few weeks ago and the wood ducks were back though the males were molting. It bodes well for photos this fall and winter.
